Eric Voegelin
Voegelin Library
At the Geschwister-Scholl-Institute, there is an archive containing a wide range of materials—some of which are otherwise difficult to access—that collects works by and about Eric Voegelin. On this basis, all interested parties are enabled to engage in in-depth scholarly study of Voegelin’s work. The holdings of this Voegelin Library include:
- The estate of Eric Voegelin, stored in the archives of the Hoover Institution, on 101 microfilms (biographical documents, correspondence, speeches, drafts, essays, reviews, teaching materials, dissertations, newspaper articles, etc.)
- Voegelin’s independent publications and their German translations
- Approximately 60 essays, treatises, and reviews authored by Voegelin between 1922 and 1985
- Lectures from his teaching activities in Munich, transcribed or recorded on tape, as well as manuscripts of lectures he delivered on various occasions
- Unpublished manuscripts and drafts
- English, French, Italian, Portuguese, Polish, and Japanese translations of Voegelin’s works
- The most important internationally published monographs and collected volumes on Voegelin’s work and themes
- Several hundred articles from German and foreign journals and collected volumes, especially from the USA, Italy, and Germany
- A comprehensive collection of reviews of Voegelin’s publications
